    EFI Folder in C:/, how to delete it?


    Bear with me on this one.



    I had my laptop dual booting Win10 and Linux Mint. After a while not using Linux (and the installation became corrupt for some reason) I decided to remove it. Somehow, during the creation of the new boot partition I somehow created an efi folder in the Windows partition. This is a Dell laptop and therefore it has a recovery partition, a boot partition (both of these don't have letters assigned and can't be accessed from Windows) and the installation partition.



    So now every time my pc boots up it asks which Windows to boot, should it use partition 1 or partition 4 of the disk to boot? If I choose partition 1 it boots without a problem. If I choose partition 4 it says my BCD is corrupted. I'm presuming that the presence of the efi folder under C:\ is the culprid.



    (4 partitions: Recovery, Boot, a 16mb reserved partition, and Installation)



    If I try to delete C:\efi Windows says that I need Thrusted Installer permission to do so. I don't know how to get this permission.



    I've tried to delete the folder from a Windows recovery environment but the folder doesn't go away, even using del /f. I also tried to live boot Linux and delete it from there but I'm unable to mount the drive into Linux (something related to insecure boot and it being a nvme drive, I think, because the other drives appears on Linux).



    Also, this installation is a clone. I cloned the installation from an old 256gb NVME drive to a 500gb SSD drive and then to my new 1tb NVME drive (I know I know, it sounds stupid but it worked, kinda).



    The laptop now won't hibernate. If asked to hibernate it will only suspend, even if using shutdown -h -f. I don't know what else to do, other than reinstalling it, what I DON'T want to do.



    If anyone can help, it will be greatly appreciated.

    C windows installer folder - Delete?

    He can do symbolic link redirection and move the files in it to a different location. *Wink EFI Folder in C:/, how to delete it? ;)
    Better try it out in a virtual of first. Just a suggestion.

    Like:
    First move everything in c:\windows\installer to d:\installercache
    Then delete c:\windows\installer folder
    Then type this in command mode as admin
    mklink /d c:\windows\installer d:\installercache

    Removing those installer files is a bad idea. it might prevent you from updating or uninstalling apps.

    Thanks for the suggestion but it says "delete folder failed for E:\....." for each folder I try.

    Move EFI partition

    its to enable win 10 to update to its anniversary edition.. it cant do this due to lack of C drive space i have had a quick try with the trial version of easus.. it didnt seem to be able to do what i want..

    i am assuming i cant just delete the efi partition but maybe i could.. as yet i havnt even figured out how to get into the bios of the thing.. maybe that should be my next step.. *Smile EFI Folder in C:/, how to delete it? :)

    diskpart could probably do it but figuring out how (it aint that user friendly) might be difficult without step by step instructions..
