    EFS In Windows 10 Pro is Not Working


    Hi there, I have been trying to encrypt a folder on my PC and have checked the box to "Encrypt contents to secure data" however the message that says to backup your key now is not popping up? Every help article I have read indicates that the backup key should pop up.Cheers, Austin :

    Win 10 pro EFS Encrypting File System Problem (Dell)

    I suggest you to start the Encrypting File System (EFS) Service and check if it helps.

    Follow the below steps:

    • Press Windows key + R from the Keyboard.
    • Type services.msc and hit Enter.
    • Search for Encrypting File System (EFS) Service.
    • Double click on Encrypting File System (EFS) Service and click on
      Start button.
    • Click on the dropdown list and set the Startup type to
      Automatic.

    EFS in Windows 10 Pro doesn't work

    I have Windows 10 Pro. According to your EFS instructions, after Confirm Attribute Changes, a Back up your file encryption key pop-up message is supposed to appear. In my case absolutely nothing appears—nothing happens at all. There is no message in the
    Notification area either. And that’s it. The folder is not encrypted. I’ve tried several times, and it just doesn’t work. Can anyone help?
