    EFS Removal Tool


    I messed when I was transferring files from my old computer. I transferred them to an SD card while they were still EFS encrypted and did not also transfer the PFX certificate.

    I no longer have my old computer and cannot copy or access the files using my new one. Is there any tool or solution out there for this situation?

    Win 10 pro EFS Encrypting File System Problem (Dell)

    I suggest you to start the Encrypting File System (EFS) Service and check if it helps.

    Follow the below steps:

    • Press Windows key + R from the Keyboard.
    • Type services.msc and hit Enter.
    • Search for Encrypting File System (EFS) Service.
    • Double click on Encrypting File System (EFS) Service and click on
      Start button.
    • Click on the dropdown list and set the Startup type to
      Automatic.

    Remove account

    I suggest you backup your personalized files first before removing the account.
    To delete an account, follow these steps:
    1. Press WIN + X keys and click Command Prompt (Admin) from the menu.
    2. Type the following command and press Enter. Replace test with the name of your sister's account. Code:

    Ok that's good then.

    So when you get a moment do what i suggested by deleting the existing EFS cert and let me know how you make out.
