  1. eHome device missing

    Hi,

I've been running my HTPC on windows 10 current version 2004 for a number of years and it has worked fine. However, yesterday my Logitech remote ceased working. I did the usual things , switch off switch on etc.

When I opened my Device Manager i noticed that the eHome device is missing.
The usbcir.sys file exists under %WinDir%\System32\drivers\usbcir.sys.
A check of the event logs show NO errors.

    This link http://batcmd.com/windows/10/services/usbcir/

States that if usbcir fails to start it should throw an error.
    I have no errors.
i ran the batch file RestoreEHomeInfraredReceiverUSBCIRWindows10.bat from this site but no luck even after a reboot.

Not sure if this is a service or not. I couldn't find a eHome service running on my machine.

Does anyone know why this device is no longer available or showing up under the device manager ?
    How can i re-install it ?

    Erick

    :)

  2. Microsoft eHome, how to permanently uninstall.

First off: I'm not using Windows 10 so I don't know how the exact steps are on Windows 10.

But: Have a look at this old thread:

Imaging Devices missing in Device Manager and Webcam doesn't working

    Hi,

Since you mentioned that the said driver is missing in Device Manager, what we suggest is for you to check in the Hidden Devices section on Device Manager. Kindly follow the steps below:

    • On the desktop, press Windows key + X and select
      Device Manager.
    • Click on View and select
      Show Hidden Devices.
    • Check for the webcam under Imaging Devices.
    • If the webcam is listed, then right-click on it and select
      Update Driver Software
    • Select Browse My Computer for Driver Software and follow the prompted steps.
Please post back with the result for further assistance

  4. eHome device missing

Why did the startup window get cleared?

I didn't missed any step, the list was gone and gone , even after using lot of programs the programs were not listed in that list.
