Windows 10: Eject button is greyed out for external hard drive

Discus and support Eject button is greyed out for external hard drive in Windows 10 Drivers and Hardware to solve the problem; When right clicking my hard drive in This PC, there is no Eject option on the context menu.     Eject button is greyed out for external hard drive


    When right clicking my hard drive in This PC, there is no Eject option on the context menu.

    Also the Eject button on the ribbon toolbar is greyed out so it won't let me click it. It only appears in safely remove hardware.

    How do I get it back so it appears?

    I'm using Windows 10 1909

    Why is the File Explorer eject button greyed out for external hard drives?

    Why is it that the eject button in Windows 10's File Explorer is greyed out for external hard drives? The only way to safely remove the drive is to use the task bar option.

    I have tried this on a number of external USB hard drives from Sandisk and Buffalo, and I have tried setting their policies to Quick Removal as well, which didn't change anything.

    With external flash drives, the option to eject from File Explorer works without issue.

    Can't eject external drive

    On the This PC Screen, there are two listings of the same drive and regardless of which one I select, the Drive, Manage window shows the eject button greyed out.

    I'm new to PC and would love to take a screen shot but don't see how to do that either.
