Ejecting Ex HD in Tray but no on drive icon ?

I have windows 11 pro . After 2 days not finding the "Eject" option when right clicking the drive, researching , I finally found an option in the tray to eject it . Is this normal . Why doesn't it show it on the drive anymore? I have tried the following-Uninstalling USB mass storage , then rebooting so windows can find the driver-checking windows for updates all up to date - Also checked my mother board drivers as I just built this PC all up to date-i ran some command prompt that pulls up a menu where you can hit stop. I get the message that "device is not removable and cannot be ejected

    :)

'Safely Remove Hardware and Eject Media' tray icon does not inform on successful ejection

The green 'Safely Remove Hardware and Eject Media' icon in the tray ejects my drives OK, but never informs about it. It's kind of annoying - one of those things that's worked for years not working now.

If you look in My Computer you can see that a device has been shut down (it disappears from the drives list) but without the feedback having to open it and check is annoying.

For ordinary flash drives, you can eject from My Computer, but for devices that emulate disks you can't - you have to use the tray icon, then you have to open or refresh My Computer to see if it was properly ejected.

Happens on Windows 10 Pro on both my Surface 3 and two laptops. Definitely a Windows 10 bug.

  3. I can't figure out how to open the disc tray on my toshiba laptop

    Hello,

Thank you for posting the query on Microsoft Community. I am glad to assist you on this.

Kindly try the below steps and check if it helps.

    • Locate the eject button near the disc tray. This button is usually directly to the left or right of the disc tray.
    • Press the eject button firmly and quickly. The tray should slide open.
    • Press the eject button a second time to close the disc tray.
If the above steps doesn't work try the below.

    • Open This PC.
    • Right click on DVD drive.
    • Click on Eject to open the drive.
If this doesn't help, I suggest you to contact Toshiba support for further assistance.
