Windows 10: Elements and option have disappeared from my Notepad, word and various other apps

Hi, my laptop has never ran into this problem however, from yesterday I have been experiencing problems with word, note pad and other apps. Some of the icons and options have disappeared. For some odd reason I can't paste anything into word or notepad. I have ran a quick scan to see if there was any issues; the virus scan reported no scan. I am currently re-updating windows to hopefully see if it resolves anything. Any help.

With the update to 2004 Notepad has become an optional feature. If it is installed you should fin it listed in Apps > Apps & features > Optional features.









If it is not listed there, you should be able to click on 'Add a feature' to find and install it.

This is not the first report of Notepad going missing after the update to 2004, it has also been reported here. Though I have updated several machines now without it going missing.

 

The Great Disappearing Notepad App

My cousin said this was the place to come for help with W10, so I'm here.

For some unknown reason my Notepad app (Pictured Below) vanished somehow. I tried looking everywhere to find it again. I checked default apps and everything. Normally, I simply type Notepad in the Start Menu search box and I see it and then pin it to my taskbar. Now when I type I don't see it at all. I just don't get it. I had to use my brother's laptop to type in Notepad just to get the screenshot of the one I'm now mysteriously missing. Please help.

Notepad to Word

in windows explorer, navigate to the document and right click on it

select open with

select word from the list

if word is not in the list select "choose another App"

click on More apps

and look for word in the extended list
