Windows 10: Eliminate Folder Contents Previews

I would like to stop Windows 10 from showing FOLDER content previews in the form of partial thumbnails.


All of the instructions I have seen for changing this also change the actual FILE view to an icon instead of a thumbnail, which I do not want.


How do I prevent FOLDER contents previews in Windows 10?


I have done this in the past in Windows 8.1, so I assume it's possible in Windows 10.

2. Which version of Windows you are using?
   
3. Since when are you facing this issue?
   

The Preview pane shows the contents of certain files selected in File Explorer. For images, it is a thumbnail preview.

If you are unable to preview in File explorer, I suggest you to try the below steps.

1. Open a new File Explorer window and click the View tab from the ribbon toolbar.
   
2. Click Options, and then click Change folder and search options to open Folder Options dialog.
   
3. Check the Show preview handlers in preview pane box, and click/tap on OK.​

Hide message contents preview in Mail

Please be informed that the message content preview pane in the Windows Mail app cannot be disabled and it is by design.

I would suggest you to leave a feedback in the Windows Mail app.

Refer the below steps:

• Open the Windows Mail app.
• Click on the gear icon from the bottom left corner.
• Under Settings click on
  Feedback.
