Windows 10: Email alerts to users with disconnected sessions after 8 hours

Hi allWe have a couple of servers which allow users to RDP to. We are finding that users are RDP'ing to these servers and then disconnecting, but not logging off; this is leading to performance problems on the servers.We would like to set up an email alert to users who have disconnected sessions on the servers, telling them that their session will be logged off in 1 hour e.g. disconnected for 9 hours in total.Can anyone advise the best way to go about this, or perhaps suggest an alternative?We would prefer not to do this with third party software.Thanks,Kay

RDP users at one site get disconnected intermittently from the RDS servers

The situation is, the users at one particular office branch for our client become intermittently disconnected from their RDS server. Our troubleshooting steps so far have been:

-Signed in to their RDS accounts from our network, which resulted in no disconnections

- Went to site and signed in from a laptop (since they use thin clients) but again they were disconnected still

- Went to site and created new user accounts to connect to the RDS servers but again were disconnected

- The RDS session hosts report a 'session id * was disconnected, reason code 0' which after googling suggests the user closed the connection e.g. the local network forcibly closed it

- We rebooted all of their network equipment and have run a wireshark trace which captured a disconnection, which i am not sure how to attach.

To turn on and turn off email notifications, follow these steps:

• From the Start screen, touch the screen and slide left.
• Scroll to and tap Settings.
• Tap ringtones+sounds.
• Tap manage app sounds.
• Tap the email account.
• Tap the Notification sound field.
• Select the desired alert option.

 

Server 2019 RDS farm UPDs staying locked after ending disconnected sessions

Hi All

we have a server 2019 RDS setup as the broker and a few host servers .

When A user closes the connection by clicking on the x we have set the "end a disconnected session" setting to 1 hour.

Some times after that 1 hour when the user logs in again he or she will have issues and then upon checking we will see the UPD still being locked.

We then have to unlock then the user can log in again

Sessions settings:

End a disconnected session - 1 hour

Active session limit - never

Idle session limit - never

Temporary folder settings:

Delete temporary folders on exit - true

Use temporary folders per session - true

User profile disks

Enable use profile disks - True

Location some other server

Store all user settings and data on user profile disk - true

EDIT: also Office 2019 standard is installed
