Windows 10: Email and my document security in case laptop breaks

In case my laptop breaks and I need to take it to a technician, can he see my Windows 10 mailbox ,my documents and onedrive?
Any advice how much of my private d like identifications, credit card and bank account related d should be always encrypted. It is not very convenient to keep encrypted things that I use almost daily . I wonder how much should I be worried what technician can get access to in case my laptop breaks and I need to take to a laboratory for few days.

I have only one user account (administrator) defined on my laptop. In that case what a technician would do? Can he login as some general administrator and then he can't see my d or will I need provide him with my password?

This thread is still very relevant! If I want to reply to an email and attach a document stored on phone there is no possible way to do this? Stating security concerns is a copout. I can create the documents, edit the documents, and share the documents,
but not attach them to an existing message thread. Gimme a break. I guess we should be happy Microsoft supports forwarding messages at all.

Print the document using Microsoft Print to PDF.

This generates a universally recognised PDF file of the document which can then be emailed but limits the level of modifications available to most users.

If size is an issue as suggested by LC you can break the file down into Chapter blocks by selecting set pages and printing separate files. These can then be emailed separately.

In some cases publishers want a précis of the book along with 1st and last chapters as an initial submission.

 

Hello, never ever keep sensitive financial info on your PC that is not protected.

Passwords and account information: I use Roboform - a password manager that with 1 click can open my browser, go to the URL, and fill in at least the first stage login info and click the button. Its data is encrypted.. one password rules all. Speed, security. And it can be available to all your devices. There are others like Lastpass... Roboform is the only one that allows me to set up prompt for 2nd stage logins requiring manual fill, so I can copy the info from a tiny window it displays.

Such programs also allow you to keep secure notes- so you can keep bank details, simple records, there as well. Encrypted in the same way.

You can use a program like truecrypt or its more modern equivalent to create encrypted storage. Once in a login session you enter the password- access is then via an additional drive letter like any other disk. There are plenty of other encryption options and methods.

Your account password is no security. Anyone can plug in your disk into another PC and access any file. Or simply boot your PC from a bootable medium and examine your files from a Windows-like environment.
