Windows 10: email backup

Every day for months, i get a message to allow a gmail account access, It's an account I don't use, but so far the message persists. Deleting the account in Outlook mail didn't help.

I know a backup account is important. Meanwhile somebody told me that Google would never do that unasked, but somebody did create a second gmail account which I also don't use.

I would very much at least get that message to stop. Which is what brought me here. Having a second backup account would be great, but not the original since, by now that daily message makes me just want it to go away.

Let's work together on this. We suggest that you follow the following steps to apply the backup to your Windows Phone:

• Sign into the same Microsoft Account used for the backup creation.
• When prompted to use a backup to restore the handset, select the desired backup and hit ‘next’ to continue with the process.
• The backup will then download (duration will vary depending on speed of connection and size of backup), you can then enter passwords for restored accounts there and then or configure restored email and social accounts later.

No, I stil can not find any backup for Windows 8.1 phone, nowhere.

 

Using network hard drive for backup

It depends what sort of backup you want to do. If you're happy just backing up regular files, then there are a bazillion (really, that many!) different bits of freeware to do that. There is a good list here:

and pretty much all of them can do network backups. Some even have fancy options like encryption. Really, the most useful thing is just being able to schedule them and know they ran OK.

You may also want to make a system image backup too, and you'll find that software in the very same list.

I don't have Windows 8 as yet, so I'm afraid I can't suggest any for that platform. Personally, I use Clonezilla for image backups.
