Windows 10: Email Hacked

I received an email from someone who says he is a member of an international hacker group.

the email came from my own email account


I'm a member of an international hacker group. As you could probably have guessed, your account (email address) was hacked, because I sent message you from it. Now I have access to you accounts! For example, your password for (email address) is (incorrect email password, but a password I use for an online web site.


Within a period from July 7, 2018 to September 23, 2018, you were infected by the virus we've created, through an online website you've visited. So far, we have access to your messages, social media accounts, and messengers. Moreover, we've gotten full damps of these data.
We are aware of your little and big secrets...yeah, you do have them. We saw and recorded your doings on line.
But the key thing is that sometimes we recorded you with your webcam, syncing the recordings with what you watched!

Email hacked?

I'm stumped trying to figure out why my mom (and a number of other people on my contact list) have received a spam email coming from me. It goes along the lines of: "Hello! <insert link to some Viagra page at some Canadian pharmacy website here>". I'm using Yahoo mail. I have a friend who says he's been getting spam emails from one of his friends, who also uses Yahoo mail. I'm wondering if something's going on with Yahoo mail, or is this just some coincidence, and if it is just a coincidence, then who hacked my email, and how did they even do it? I certainly never told anyone my password for anything, let alone my email address. I don't have a keylogger or any other virus either, I just ran a full malwarebytes scan and it came back clean.

Same thing has been happening to me ! I changed my Email password and it has seemed to fix this problem . Try using a really hard password with capital letters and numbers . Mine was with MSN not yahoo ( Yet ) .

 

Unauthorized Emails from my account?

It is more than likely that your email account was hacked, either by a virus sniffing your password, or just simply hacked.

Either way, change your password on your email account. Unfortunately the damage by already be done. They already have your contact list and your email address associated with that contact list. There is nothing stopping them from sending out emails using their own SMTP servers to everyone on your contact list and claiming the emails are from your email address. They don't actually have to have access to your yahoo account or even any yahoo server to send emails to people that come from your address.
