  1. Enable/Disable Audio devices

Hi,I want to enable/disable audio devices listed in sound control panel mmsys.cpl but either through programmatically or through any power shell commands/scripts.I tried using WMI APIs, Core Audio APIs, pnputil, devcon utilities. But with any of these I am either able to enable/disable an audio endpoint from AudioEndpoint class or a media device Media class. None of these provide similar behavior what we get when disabling audio device through right clicking on it in sound control panel.Observations:1. If I use device id of an AudioEndpoint to disable, it gets disabled only in device man

    :)

  2. Re-enable audio device

    Hi,

I would be happy to assist you.

Before we proceed with troubleshooting, I would need little information on the issue.

    • Are using speakers / head phones to listen to audio?
If you have disabled the audio device, then you might not see it under the list of playback devices. I would suggest you to follow these steps to make sure you see the disabled devices:

      • Open
        Control panel
        .

      • Click Hardware and Sound and then Click on
        Sounds.

      • Under Playback tab, right click on the empty area and make sure
“Show Disabled Devices” has a check mark on it. If headphones/Speakers are disabled, it will now show up in the list.

      • Right click on the device and
        Enable it. Click OK.
If the issue still persists, try enabling speakers automatically using steps below.

    • Go to Settings> Click on themes> Advance sound settings> right click on the speakers or the audio device youo have connected > click on
      Configure device.

    • Test the sound level you want, click Next.

    • And configure the audio devices.

Hope this helps you. Do reply if you need further assistance on Windows 10.

    Thank you.

  3. Enable/Disable Audio devices

    Hi,

I want to enable/disable audio devices listed in sound control panel (mmsys.cpl) but either through programmatically or through any power shell commands/scripts.

I tried using WMI APIs, Core Audio APIs, pnputil, devcon utilities. But with any of these I am either able to enable/disable an audio endpoint from (AudioEndpoint class) or a media device (Media class). None of these provide similar behavior what we get when disabling audio device through right clicking on it in sound control panel.

    Observations:

    1. If I use device id of an AudioEndpoint to disable, it gets disabled only in device manager under 'Audio inputs and outputs' section, but not in sound control panel or any other application which are using it.

    2. If I use device id of a Media to disable, it gets disabled in device in device manager under 'Sound, video and game controllers' section, but removes the devices completely from sound control panel.

    3. If I disable the device from sound control panel by right clicking on it, it gets disabled and unavailable for all apps immediately. It also gets removed from 'Audio inputs and outputs' section in device manager but no impact in 'Sound, video and game controllers' section.

I want to achieve this observation (3) through program or commands.

Please suggest how to do it.

    Thanks.

    Enable/Disable Audio devices

Disabled motherboard audio device disappears from sound configuration

Win 10 on a Gigabyte Z170X mobo. This board has Creative Soundblaster audio as well as the Intel chipset audio that goes out HDMI cable. Both were working but at some point the system sent some audio to the monitor instead of the Creative device which goes
    to external speakers.

So I selected "disable" on the two Intel audio devices (one for HDMI, one for display miniport). Instead of appearing "disabled" they simply disappeared from the sound configuration list. They remain in the Devices list and are listed as "enabled". But
since they are no longer listed in the Control Panel sound configuration settings, I can't turn them back on. Rebooting made no difference: still listed as enabled devices, but still not present in Control Panel sound settings.

I'd like to get the Intel devices back so I have the option of using them. Any suggestions please?

    Thanks very much.
