How to Enable or Disable Adobe Flash Player in Microsoft Edge in Windows 10

Microsoft Edge is a new web browser added in Windows 10, and will be available across the Windows 10 device family. It is fast, compatible, and built for the modern Web.

Adobe Flash Player is integrated with Microsoft Edge in Windows 10, and is updated via Windows Update.

Starting with Windows 10 build 15002, Microsoft Edge will now block untrusted Flash content by default until the user explicitly chooses to play it. This means better security, stability, and performance for you, while preserving the option to run Flash when you choose.

Starting with Windows 10 build 15042, Microsoft has added a new Updated Flash Click-To-Run experience dialog in the URL bar to make it clearer when Flash content has been blocked. Just click the puzzle icon to allow Flash once or every time you return to the same site.

Hello Jona, and welcome to Ten Forums. *Smile

Installing all available Windows Updates should sort that.

Thank for the welcome. Several months ago I upgraded from 7 to 10 by doing a fresh install using the ISO from MS, then entering my 7 CoA. I'd read that's an option, and it worked. Right away I disabled flash in edge (then quickly abandoned using edge), and up until now got no nags. Then a few days ago the nags started. Initially I was confused because I don't have flash installed as a stand alone, then learned that flash is built into edge. I was afraid that the nags were some malware. A nasty surprise was the prohibition of using unsigned drivers (USBASP in my case), but I found, probably on this site, a work-around by doing <shift>+<restart>. Another nasty surprise is that my USB-RS232 no longer works properly. PC seems to not wait for a start bit and just reads garbage.

All settings are correct, verified the Registry setting. Edge still insists I must install flash player. All up to date with Windows Update.

Left hand doesn't know what right hand is doing...

    Hello Galane, *Smile

As a test, open the Adobe page below in Microsoft Edge to see if the Adobe Flash Player logo animation at the top plays for you. If it does, then you have it enabled in Microsoft Edge.

    *Arrow Adobe - Flash Player

If you just see this below without any animation, then it's not enabled.

It IS enabled but it doesn't actually work. The setting is set to enabled and I verified that the Registry setting is correct for it to be enabled - but it does not work.

If you're sure that you have all updates installed in Windows Update, and Adobe Flash Player didn't work in the test link above, then you might see if resetting Microsoft Edge to default may help.

Be sure to make sure that Adobe Flash Player is turned on in Microsoft Edge afterwards.

I ran that, launched Edge, verified that Flash was enabled in Advanced settings. Still no working Flash. So I ran the script again and now Edge won't launch.

Since it doesn't leave the Powershell window open, all I can tell you about that is I saw a bunch of red text.

That link looks like it uses the same command I posted above here: https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/2...dows-10-a.html

I just tested that "Shockwave" site in my Microsoft Edge, and I see the same need to update message even though Adobe Flash Player is working in it. I also tested the link in IE11, and it doesn't work in it.

It appears to be a issue with that specific site.

That's because it's the error page one gets shunted to when attempting to go to a game from the flash site. If Flash was actually working in Edge on my computer, it would not have been redirected there.

Well, that's the thing though. Adobe Flash Player works fine for me in both IE11 and Microsoft Edge, but not for that site.
