Windows 10: Enable or Disable Bash on Ubuntu in Windows 10

Brink so i was going to turn on developer mode to turn on bash but windows says developer mode is dangerous and can expose my machine what it mean by that ? am i opening up my machine to more viruses and such?

That's a generic warning to let you know that while Developer Mode is enabled you will be able to install unsigned apps, and be able to access your PC via Device Portal (if turned on).

Enable your device for development

 

OH ok so as long as i turn it on just for bash and don't touch anything else like device portal and stuff its know more dangerous then any other time correct .

coool its installing it now *Smile is there any updates i need to do to it Brink onse its done d-loading and installing?.

 

got it all setup now had some issue with the password but did some resarch reset it to root and reset the account and now its all working *Smile

Also after installing WSL you can run the following commands regularly to keep the bash system uptodate:

Code: sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get upgrade[/quote] If you need to compile programs then use:

Code: sudo apt-get install build-essential[/quote]

Yep, I have it noted under step 1 to help.

 

hmm I'm getting this error:

 

In option 1, typing bash and expecting it to install WSL doesn't appear to work any more in 16266. You have to type lxrun /install in cmd prompt instead.
