How to Enable or Disable Energy Efficient Ethernet for a Modem


Information During periods of low data activity, Energy Efficient Ethernet (802.3az EEE) allows for less power consumption by 50% or more while retaining full compatibility with existing equipment.

If your modem (ex: Arris 6190) supports EEE, you could enable or disable EEE to reduce the power consumption of your modem while idle.

This tutorial will show you how to enable or disable Energy Efficient Ethernet (802.3az EEE) for your modem.



Note The steps to enable or disable EEE for your modem will vary depending on the brand and model of the modem.

The steps in this tutorial are for a Arris SB6190 cable modem. Please read your modem's manual for more specific details.

If you like, please post steps and screenshots for your modem. I'll be happy to include them in the tutorial to help others.



Warning Some devices may not connect properly when EEE is enabled. If you have any issues, you can just disable the feature to resolve them.



Here's How:

1. Open your web browser (ex: Internet Explorer, Chrome, Firefox, etc...)

2. Enter http://192.168.100.1 or http://192.168.0.1 into the address bar of your web browser, and press Enter.

3. Click/tap on the Configuration option. (see screenshot below)

4. Select Enabled or Disabled for what you want for the Energy Efficient Ethernet setting.

Active Ethernet connection disables Cellular Modem

Ethernet Connection Disconnects Randomly

I'm using a wired connection to my laptop and it disconnects randomly from about every 30 minutes to every 2 hours. I've already tested with different ethernet cables so that isn't the problem.

My computer is on Windows 10 and using the Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller.

I've already tried updating the driver to the newest one on the Realtek website, and reverting to old ones. I have also tried disabling Green Ethernet, Energy Efficient Ethernet, changing the setting of Auto-disable Gigabit, and unchecking "turn off this
device to save power"

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

 

USB modem disables Ethernet and WiFi


Hi I have a program called Connectify Dispatch that enable multiple internet connections load balancing, which speed up downloads mostly and sometimes web browsing, my problem that is whenever I use an USB modem Ethernet and WiFi internet stops, this happened since windows 8 but windows 7 works just fine.
This drives me nuts since my internet access is mostly via 3G USB modems but the fastest connection is through a router.

 

IP configuration not valid - interference from ethernet adapter?

Solution 1: No Internet Access In Windows 8.1or Windows 10

Step 1:

Go to Device Manager → Network adapters.
Step 2:

Expand it (Network adapters).


Step 3:

Select your network adapter


Step 4:

Right click on your wireless network adapter or Ethernet adapter and then tap “Update Driver Software”.
(in this case your network adopter is Ethernet adopter so tap your Ethernet adapter)
Step 5:

Now on a new window you will need to click on “Browse my computer for driver software”.




Step 6:

Then select “Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer”.



Step 7:

Now choose the “Manufacturer’s drivers” from the list of two and then click next.



Step 8:

After the completion of the process just restart your PC and check if the problem is solved or not. If not, goto solution 2.



Solution 2: No Internet Access In Windows 8.1,windows10

Step 1:

Open command prompt.
Step 2:

Just go on hitting the enter after typing the each command.
netsh int tcp set heuristics disabled
netsh int tcp set global autotuninglevel=disable
netsh int tcp set global rss=enabled
Step 3:

Now to check if the settings are disabled type:
netsh int tcp show global
then hit enter.
Step 4:

Now the thing left is just rebooting your system and just check if the problem is solved or not and just give feedback.*chuckle*Thumbs

 

Getting error "A network change was detected. ERR_NETWORK_CHANGED" on Google Chrome with Windows 10

I had the same problem when using a LAN cable (but not via Wi-Fi).

The issue turned out to be an incompatibility between the Realtek network adapter in my Inspiron 17 and the Technicolor TG-789 Broadband Gateway supplied by iiNet. Specifically, it seems that the TG-789
doesn't support the "Energy Efficient Ethernet" protocol used by the Realtek network adapter. The fix is to disable "Energy Efficient Ethernet" on the Realtek.

To fix (on Windows 10):

• Press <Windows>+X
• Click on Device Manager
• Under Network adapters, right-click Realtek PCIe FE Family Controller and click Properties
• In the Advanced tab, click on Energy Efficient Ethernet and change the value to Disabled
• Click [OK] and close the device manager
