Information The Clock, Volume, Network, Power, and Action Center system icons are located on the taskbar notification area (aka: system tray) by default in Windows. When you hover over these icons, you can see their status. You can right click on these icons to access specific options or settings for them.

By default, each user can choose to turn on or off systems icons showing on their taskbars.

This tutorial will show you how to enable or disable system icons on the taskbar notification area for all users in Windows 10.

You must be signed in as an administrator to enable or disable a system icon.

Note If a system icon is enabled, users will be able to turn on or off the system icon for their account.

If a system icon is disabled, the icon will be removed from the taskbar notification area for all users, and users will not be able to turn on or off the system icon since its setting will be grayed out.

System tray got error cause system icon missing

    Hi,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

    • What is the version of Windows 10 you’re running?
    • What happens if you right click in the empty space between the input indication and the icons very next to it?

It appears that there is some icon which is not being displayed. I would suggest to turn off system icons, reboot the computer, then enable them back and let us know the results.

    1. Right click on the taskbar and select Taskbar settings to open the taskbar settings.
    2. Go to Select which icons appear on the taskbar and Enable Always show all icons in the notification area by toggling the switch to
      On position.
    3. Go back and click on Turn system icons on or off.
    4. Disable all system icons by manually toggling the switches for each individual app/icon to position
      Off.
    5. Reboot the computer and enable (toggle the switches to position
On) for all the apps/system icons by following the steps 3 and 4 mentioned above and let us know how it goes.

    We await your reply.

No Battery Icon in Taskbar Windows 10

    Hi Klutch,

It is possible that there is an issue with the drivers of your computer's battery. This can be the reason why the battery icon in the taskbar is missing and the
Power icon in the System tray options is greyed out. We need to refresh the drivers of the battery so that its icon will appear in the task bar again. To do this, follow these steps:

    • Right-click the Windows logo (Start button).
    • Select Device Manager.
    • Expand Batteries, and then right-click AC Adapter.
    • Choose Disable.
    • Right-click ACPI Compliant Control Method Battery, and choose
      Disable.
    • After disabling these two drivers, re-enable them.
    • Check if the battery icon is present in the taskbar.

We'll be waiting for the outcome.
