Windows 10: Enable WIndows Shutdown Sound

Is there actually a method for play sound when I shutdown my Windows 11 PC like in Windows 7?

Logoff, Logon, shutdown, restart, startup sounds not playing


I'm running Threshold 2 of Win10. It seems the Startup Sound is working again. Previously, even checked it would only play intermittently on a warm boot, not a cold one. Now it seems to work all the time. There is a 3rd party app that lets you change the Startup Sound to whatever you want, without you having to go through the hack steps.

The Exit Windows sound is another matter. Even enabled via the Registry and reappearing in the Sound list, selecting a sound for that does not make it play at shutdown.

No Logon or Shutdown sounds played when they are enabled.

To better assist you, do let us know the steps you tried to set the tone. Also, there are no problems with the audio other than this, is that right?

Shutdown sound is available in Windows 10 and was available in Windows 8. However the feature is hidden therefore, you will need to follow the steps below to enable the feature.

• Press Windows + R, Type regedit.
• 
  Navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\AppEvents\EventLabels.
  
• 
  Scroll down and click on System exit.
  
• 
  To the right pane, locate the key ExludeFromCPL and double click on it and change its value to 0 and click OK.
  
• 
  Close the registry editor.
  
• 
  Right click on the sound icon in taskbar and select "sounds".
  
• 
  Locate system exit under program events and select the preferred system exit tone.
  
• 
  Also, check the "play windows start-up sound" and save the changes.
