Enabling GPU driver causes no signal sent to the monitor

3 days ago, the AMD Software Adrenalin Edition updated without my consent, and so the display driver probably updated as well.I close my computer, leave it for around 3 hours, boot it, and notice my monitor isn't receiving any signals after the boot screen. So then I went into safe mode by shutting down the computer 3 times, disabled the display driver, restarted the computer, and now the OS display things on the monitor just fine although it's most likely using the Microsoft Basic Display Adapter.I'm not sure what to do to solve this issue. I tried removing the driver from device manager i

GPU no signal output, installing driver (on integrated card) causes system freeze

I recently decided to build a budget PC, I bought the following parts:

I've plugged the PSU->GPU power and both green led over the plugs are green, so I suppose the power is ok. I also tried moving the GPU between the 2 PCIE's. Tried resetting BIOS, different versions of drivers, no effect.

Here is what I got so far:

    • Without GPU plugged in, everything works as expected.
    • With GPU plugged in, but the HDMI connected to the integrated card (and forced through BIOS), the system boot, but when I try to install the driver, everything freezes
      • With GPU plugged in and HDMI in GPU, I get no signal from the monitor (all fans work)
      • Device manager (in windows 10) was detecting the card as "microsoft basic video driver", tried to manually force auto drive update, but didn't find the proper drivers.

What might be causing the problem? Is my GPU faulty?

    Fix for black screen/no signal

Easy Fix for Black Screen/No Signal after Dedicated GPU Driver Install, OS Windows 10

The problem (at least in my case) was the Windows 10 default settings for my monitor/TV were way too high; above 3000 X 3000 and a scaling setting of 300% this
did work with the Basic Driver

Step 1: You need to reboot into your on board GPU or into safe mode

Step 2: Go to the search panel and type in Display Settings (Bottom left of screen) you will be given a list click on the top item which is Display Setting and it will take you where you can alter the setting

Step 3: Change to what better suits your monitor e.g. 1862 X 1048 or may be even lower at 100% (HD TV) You may need to uninstall the Dedicated GPU driver and reinstall it.

    Hope this is of help

  4. Enabling GPU driver causes no signal sent to the monitor

How to force windows re-establish video signal output to either HDMI or DP connected monitor?

    Hi,

The system set up is a Windows 10/11 PC with an external monitor connected through either HDMI or DP cable. I want to test a monitor driver feature which should trigger a new video signal output from Windows to the monitor. When I do it manually, I install the monitor driver, and unplug/plug HDMI/DP cable. Then the signal is re-established. Now I want to do it automatically and tried below ways.

    1. Power off/on the monitor, controlled by smart plug. However, the signal from Windows keeps same as before uninstalling the driver. So it doesn't work.
    2. Use pnputil to restart the GPU. It works, but not stable. I often see the whole system hangs when restarting GPU.

I think there must be a system event when HDMI/DP cable is plugged in, which force the video signal re-establishment. Or is there a way to mimic HDMI/DP cable plug in? Any idea?

    Thanks,

    Yan
