  1. Enabling Virtual machine platform slows down windows VM

I am trying to host Windows 10 enterprise 2004 on Kubernetes using kubevirt. I can host the instance and everything is working and fast when accessed remotely but when I enable Virtual machine platform the vm slows down significantly. Just enabling wsl does not seem to affect the instance, it is only when I try to enable wsl 2 for docker use by enabling Virtual machine platform.

I have restarted the instance after turning on the feature.

In the process tab I can see vmmem is using like 1.5G memory but I have given the instance 16G so I thought that should not be the issue.

Some of the things I have tried to solve this:

Optimized the vm using vmware optimizer tool.

Only using RAM by disabling virtual memory.

Please let me know where I can look to debug this. Or maybe some pointers as to what I might be doing wrong.

    Thank you!

    :)

  2. Virtual Machine Platform in Windows 10 update 1809

I really didn't expect to get a response to my question, to be honest. I thank you for clarifying a few things for me, and making me feel like its not just me being a "Linux Elitist".

I figured out how to use WSL, you know, enabling the feature then installing a distro, then launching... but I still don't understand what the feature "virtual machine platform" is... When with it disabled, I ca still run VM's. So is it for WSL2? Or what?

  3. Virtual Machine Platform in Windows 10 update 1809

Ya I am not sure what this guy is talking about.... Virtual Machine Platform is clearly in the Windows 10 Add or Remove Features section. I myself am very curious as to what it is. If anyone can give a real legitimate answer to this fake one that buddy provided
    that would be great!

Virtual Machine Platform in Windows 10 update 1809

    Hi,

I am Ganesh Gandhi, an Independent Advisor and Office Insider for Android. I am here to work with you on this problem.

Windows 10 already includes native virtual machine support it’s called Hyper-V.

You do not need to use any third party apps if you want to use virtual machines on your Windows device.

    Kindly refer:

    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/virtualization...

Use of Virtual Machine Platform in Windows 10 update 1809 feature/purpose of the feature:

    For MSIX packaging.

You can use the MSIX Packaging Tool to create an MSIX application package for an existing MSI or App-V installer on a Hyper-V virtual machine (VM). The VM must meet these requirements

Kindly Refer these sites for 1809 features and Virtual Machine Platform:

    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/virtualization...

    and

Do let me know if you require any further help on this. I will keep working with you until it's resolved.
