Windows 10: Encountering an error I've not seen before. I get a install failure when I try and download...

MS site is no help so far. Here is the complete error message from the log files. Unable to start a DCOM Server: Microsoft.WindowsStore_12104.1001.1.0_x64__8wekyb3d8bbwe!App as Unavailable/Unavailable. The error: "2147942402" Happened while starting this command: "C:\Program Files\WindowsApps\Microsoft.WindowsStore_12104.1001.1.0_x64__8wekyb3d8bbwe\WinStore.App.exe" -ServerName:App.AppXc75wvwned5vhz4xyxxecvgdjhdkgsdza.mcaI have spent hours searching for clues on this and none seem to be a fit for this issue. Error encountered 0x80244018 retry is what I came back to after running the update for several hours.

I tried the retry and it is back to 1% downloaded. I can leave it run again and follow the steps you listed if it doesn't work.

that's a Direct X runtime error.

Install the DX 9c Winter 2005 install of DX9.
download it here:

Reinstall your video card driver(you might get away with skipping this step, if not you gotta start over)

Now re-install the game. DO NOT let it install DX9 on your computer for you.

Error Encountered for drivers updates

Running Win 10 v 2004 currently with a Dell desktop pc. When I went to Windows Update there was the version 20H2 update available along with Recommended updates of 3 drivers I am still deciding whether to install 20H2. When I checked the 3 listed drives for downloading and installing the Error Encountered notification. Oddly I have since retruned to Windows Update and the only update shown now is version 20H2?
