Windows 10: Encrypted Files moved to FAT32 Data Locker/Iron Key drive inaccessible

Hi All! I have scoured the interwebs for literal days and cannot find an answer for my issue. My heavily restricted company computer had to be reimaged. I was able to move all of my files to a password protected Iron Key USB. The issue is that my important files are encrypted with EFS. I did create a backup certificate and have installed said certificate on the newly reimaged computer without issues as I have the password as well. The thumbprint matches as expected. For some reason, this drive was formatted as Fat32. So ownership cant be forced or shared in the security tab, because th

Data Recovery in Bitlocker Encrypted Drive

Today my home laptop system asked for bit locker password after booting up (before login). Bit locker encryption was not enabled by me. However, to make the computer usable, C drive was formatted since there was no critical data in C Drive. However D Drive is still encrypted.



Kindly confirm

1. Can Bitlocker Encryption be enabled without intervention of the user?
   
2. Where to find the bitlocker encryption key?
   
3. How to recover the Data in Encrypted D Drive?

I used to have access to Bit Locker and I had encrypted one of my drives with Bit Locker, but after I deleted all the junk files with the software, Bit Locker was no longer active and I could not access the encrypted drive. I had to format the drive. Bit Locker encrypted hard drive / the key didn't work

My C drive was bit locker encrypted when I inserted it in another laptop. When inserting it back into my laptop, the bit locker window opened before the login and i couldn't access my computer anymore. I found the recovery key from the other computer that should unlock my hard drive and entered it on my computer. It said that it wasn't successful. I tried inserting the encrypted hard drive back to the other laptop and unlock it from there, it said that the drive has already been unlocked, however it wasn't showing in the list of available drives like before.

1. Why didn't the key work and what can I do from this point to recover my drive?

2. If I reset the drive, will Windows be also wiped from it or will it stay?
