Windows 10: Encryption Headache

Thanks to the latest Windows 11 update. that repeatedly crashed our computers, due to the incompatibility with a number of specialist music programs that my business uses. We were lucky or Unlucky enough to be able to reboot one of the computers long enough to unencrypt the important folders and copy them to a hard drive., ensuring that they'd copied and were so we thought recoverable as they reopened from the external hard drive. Device Encryption not avaiable

For us to be able to isolate your concern why your devices page says it is not encrypted when you've turn on encryption, kindly answer these questions:

• Does this happen before you encrypt the device?
• Which Windows version currently running on your device?
• What troubleshooting steps have you tried so far?

Encrypting a folder

Hello Bill,

To encrypt a folder in Windows 10 Home, follow these steps:

• Right-click the folder you want to encrypt and click Properties.
• On the General tab, click Advanced.
• Under Compress or Encrypt attributes, click Encrypt contents to secure data.
• Click OK then Apply to save the changes.
