    Encryption icons on files downloaded from the net


    Hello,Yesterday my wife used my desktop to do some of her office work and she played around with-file properties -attributes-advanced-advanced attributes - encrypt contents to secure dataand after that from now onwards every time I download something into my pc the encrypt icon is next to the file/folderthe file/folder is accessible and nothings wrong with my pc but the encryption icon is very annoying for me to see on my desktop and its been bugging me and distracting me from my work.Is there a solution to this ? please help if u can :c

    Hi Iman,

    Error message 0x80071771 means that you need to restore the file encryption key in order for you to decrypt the encrypted files. On the other hand, you can still try these steps and see if it will work:

    • Right-click the file or folder that you want to decrypt.
    • Click File ownership and click Personal.

    Windows XP file encryption

    My suggestion to you is to look into what kind of encryption the program used, and look for a way to break that type of encryption. Sorry I can't say a specific program for sure.
