    Hello, I hope someone can help me with this as I have been struggling with this for two days now and it has been driving me nuts. I had an earlier and I think partly related problem yesterday with endnotes in separate chapters not starting with 1 but that seems to have sorted itself out. I am using Word 2019 on an HP Pavilion x360 laptop with Windows 10. My new problem is that when I add a new footnote, if it is more than one line long the program skips a line and double spaces between the two. My first chapter which was done on an earlier PC with an earlier Word program has the endnote

    how to add a new chapter after a previous chapter with endnotes?

    In my class, 10 children have written 10 individual stories wherein each story (or chapter) has its own specific endnotes.

    HOW do I join the stories into one single book but leave the endnotes at the end of each story? Thank you, Jane

    Windows 10 putting my Endnote into a "locked volume"- whatever that means

    I have been using Endnote for years on my PC and using my current Endnote version (8.2) for 1 1/2 years with Windows 10 no problem. Just recently without my making any changes (except maybe auto Windows updates) I get a message on Endnote saying the file
    is in a "locked volume" and while I can open it I cannot add references or edit it in any way. I have tried multiple times to save a duplicate and use that. But after I use the duplicate 2-3 times on my PC it happens again. My only work around is keeping Endnote
    on my flash drive. But it is very annoying. Any suggestions as to 1] why this started to happen and 2] How to fix it. Any help most appreciated. Thanks Joe Marrone

    Viewing File Explorer as single spacing instead of double spacing

    File Explorer (the [unnecessary] new name for Windows Explorer in W10) displays files and folders in a double-space format, which means the screen can only show half as many lines as it could if it were single spaced. How do I change it to single space?
