Windows 10: 'Enhancements' tab gone from Win 10 sound controls after Reset This PC

Hi all,

I'm using Windows 10 on a Macbook Air, and was having problems with Wifi. It wasn't a Bootcamp specific thing - there were plenty of other threads describing my exact problem from all sorts of laptop manufactures - and it appeared the only fix was the nuclear 'Reset This PC' option.

So, I did that, and the problem was fixed! New problem - I now no longer have the 'Enhancements' tab in Audio Devices (seen here: How to enable Windows sound loudness equalization - gHacks Tech News) which is really useful for making sure one program isn't screamingly loud and the other barely audible.

I have no idea what's gone on - it was there on first install, and the tab has completely disappeared after the Reset This PC and driver installation process.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Enhancements tab missing from both speakers and microphone properties since Windows 10 update

I have the same problem!

I am using the Lenovo Thinkpad T430.

After upgrading from windows 7 to windows 10, the sound enhancements tab is gone! The main problem is that this option is not working fine on Windows 10 so it has been removed automatically.

The only way to have the sound enhancements back is removing the updated sound driver and install the old one from the Lenovo hompage.

However, the sound enhancements will work for a short time only. Then the windows will automatically disable it and update the new sound driver.

Without sound enhancements, the sound is terrible as it has no bass boot option.

Now, I am still waiting for a new sound driver update from Lenovo (the newest one which is compatible with my laptop on their homepage was released from 2013!)

 

Windows 10 distorted sound

hi , When i upgraded from 8.1 to windows 10 all of my computer sound has gone distorted , ive looked at other help forums and all of them have said go to the enhancement tab and turn off enhancements . my sound device doesn't have that option . I have
recently dual booted windows 8.1 with windows 10 . Sound seems to work fine on windows 8.1

 

Hi, what is your sound card - which driver do you use? E.g. Conexant, Realtek....

If you're using a USB mike, that has its own chipset and driver.

The sound card is a Cirrus Logic CS4208 (AB126). Unlike Realtek, Cirrus's website has no downloadable drivers, so I can't try a different one or attempt to roll-back

I don't really understand how I could have the Enhancements tab in one install and now have it in the next, using the same driver package provided by Apple's Windows Support Software. It was kind of a fool's hope, but I installed the latest Realtek drivers just in case I could get the Enancements tab back (even though I don't have a Realtek soundcard), but no luck
