Windows 10: Enter Network Credentials - Access Denied

Hello Community!I am trying to access a hard drive on my PC Desktop from my laptop. Quick summary:Both connected to home wi-fi set as private networkPC in question has sharing enabled for the driveBoth computers can see each other on the networkPassword Protect Sharing is turned off in Advanced Sharing SettingsBoth computers use the same Windows Log In username and passwordSo despite Password Protected Sharing being off, when I try to access either computer I am asked for Network Credentials, which always tells me the password is incorrect.I've run out of ideas - I've tried most of the sug

Asking to enter network credentials when access files on network

I understand that after an update, you get a prompt to enter network credentials to access files over network. I’ll certainly help you with the issue.



Ideally, if you have never used credentials to access files over network, you may want to check the network settings and see if Password protected sharing is turned off. To do this, refer the steps mentioned below:

1. Go to control panel > Click on
   network and internet > Click on network and sharing.
   
2. Click on Change advance sharing settings
   on the left pane.
   
3. Turn off password protected sharing.
   
4. Click on Save changes

Windows 10 Map Network Drive Not Accepting Credentials, Access Denied

Summary

On Windows 7 I would map my drives, using \\HTPC\X$, it would prompt for credentials, would enter them, and it would map correctly with read\write permissions.

In Windows 10, I do the same thing, when prompted to enter credentials I enter them and it says access denied and prompts me to re enter the credentials again. Have tried Windows Credentials, deleting, re adding etc. Username and Password are correct because
they work when RDPing the HTPC.

In Windows 10 they will map, if I leave the $ sign off, but if I put the dollar sign on the end to have read\write, it asks for credentials, when I put them in, it says access denied, and asks for them again?

To assist you better regarding your concern with network credentials, have you checked the Windows credentials for any information about the username and password for the network credentials? If not yet, follow the steps below to access Windows Credentials
manager.

• Press the Windows icon on the desktop.
• Type in Windows Credentials.

We would appreciate as well if you could provide us a screenshot.
