  1. Enter the UEFI...what now

I'm grateful (Shawn) for the How To on entering the UEFI...but once I'm in there, if there is even the slightest confusion, I won't be able to come back here and ask.

Could we have a couple of screen shots of what the options are going to be? And how to action the one I want, please.

I'm wanting to select Boot from USB Media (the thing I created on with the Media Creation Tool) cos the present W10 upgrade install still hangs every other time.

Call me cautious but I recall the first look at BIOS settings: not clear unless you did once before.

    :)

    welcome screen and administrator

I purchased a display computer from a BJ's store that is relocating. (please, i'm already sort of regretting it). when I turn on the computer it welcomes me and says club 149 is my administrator, I don't want and would prefer to not have that as my administrator
for this new laptop. can you reboot or remove and administrator. I look to the community for any help, and am thankful and hopeful in advance of resolving this issue.

The BIOS screens aren't the same among manufacturers.

Does your table have a hotkey that allows you to choose the boot order on a one-time basis? On my desktop systems, it may be F11.

Just to confuse things, a USB device may show up twice in the boot order: once for UEFI, one that is not. Choose the UEFI version.

Better yet, fill in your system specs, so that you can get more specific advice.

Another option that may be easier to look far as well is to see if there is a "boot menu" option for a hotkey (F key, etc.) that you can then just hit on the BIOS splash screen and then select what to boot off of. Won't affect current boot order but allow you to decide if necessary. That's what bobkn is referring to, got there before me.

Not sure what motherboard you have? Most Asus motherboards use the F8 button on the keyboard as the PC is booting [keep tapping it] to bring up the boot menu. Do this with the USB already plugged into your PC. Then select the UEFI USB option from the list in the boot menu that appears on the screen. Other motherboard manufacturers might be different.

As per other guides in the forum, you should not need to tinker in your UEFI/BIOS boot settings or change boot priorities.

Sorry guys, I am using an SP3 on a 25" screen; I forget it's not a desktop. SP3 has UEFI.
Shawn's guide shows that you enter from the Recovery option in W10 Settings. Click Advanced ... Etc then Reboot. It says you will be in the UEFI. Have you seen this Guide?

    SP3 = Surface Pro 3, I guess.

    I tend to avoid abbreviations.

Instructions on booting from a USB flash drive:

Boot Microsoft Surface from a USB device

If I was doing it, I'd use the method that doesn't involve configuring the boot order: press and hold the volume down button, press the power button. It's equivalent to the boot order hotkey on a normal PC.
