Entire computer's audio breaks when I use applications, until I change sample rate

So I begrudgingly updated to windows 10 from 7 a few days ago, and I'm really wishing I hadn't.

My audio setup is an Audiobox usb that I run my mic and speakers into, which is connected to my pc. Worked with no problem on windows 7, but maybe that's of some significance.

For whatever reason, whenever I open applications and use them, the audio across the whole computer crackles extremely loud and then just breaks. Sometimes it takes a couple minutes, sometimes its instant. I am no longer able to watch any kind of video on my computer because it is a ticking time bomb. It doesn't work again until I change the sample rate of my input and output and restart the applications. Windows troubleshooter doesn't even recognize there being a problem. The variety of ways the audio has broken is legitimately bizarre to me as I've give friends and family tech support for years and seen some pretty weird shit. The ways its been broken include, but are not limited to:

Opening firefox, opening chrome, playing a match of league, watching Netflix, watching Youtube, opening Minecraft, challenging my friend to a match in Runeterra, running Deluge.

What the fuck is that? How do I even go about diagnosing that when the problem is so widespread? All my drivers are up to date, windows is up to date, I disabled exclusive control of applications for all my audio devices. My audio was pristine on 7 with not so much as as hiccup. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling my audio drivers, disabling all audio enhancements, and keeping windows 10 up to date.

    Has anyone encountered this?

  2. UNABLE TO CHANGE SAMPLE RATE

I wish it was as simple as that. The sample rate box is shaded which means that it cannot be altered and a notice advises me that this is being used by another application (when it is not)

I believe it could be a Microsoft problem

    Usb sampling rate

I use an audio device via a USB cable to enable a high sampling rate. I change this to 24 bit 192kbit. The problem is that every time I switch the audio device off and later back on, the sampling rate falls back to the default. Can I change this default
    setting?

is this something i can change in the registry?

    Changing Sample Rate Stopped Headset

Hello everyone. Today while I was looking through my speaker properties, I noticed I could change the Sample Rate (which I thought may give me better sound quality). However, after I changed it, the headphones I currently had plugged in stopped working. The speakers still work fine, and the headphones still work, and are recognized, they just don't produce any sound. I tried changing the sample rate back to the default 24bit 48000hz and restarting my computer but nothing seems to work. My problem is almost identical to this one: Headset stopped working after changing sample rate but I'm not sure where to find that option the second post refers to. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
