Windows 10: Epson Printer Drivers for Win 10?

Hi does anyone know or think the 64 bit 8.1 drivers for my printer may work for Win 10? (64 bit)
Epson does not offer Win 10 drivers
Some sites offer the drivers but I try not to download things from sites I do not trust
It could be the 8.1 drivers in disguise or malware or who knows what?

Epson Photo 1400

Did you also get the Epson win 10 drivers for the 1400 if available? Each printer needs win 10 drivers and their own setup as 2 diff printers. Get the drivers from Epson and add the 1400 as a second printer.

 

How to add a remote networked Epson 1290 printer hosted on a 32bit Win XP PC.

Epson do not have 64 bit drivers for their Stylus Photo 1290 printer for either Win 7 or Win 10.

They do, however, have a 64bit XP driver that I have used succesfully on a Win 7 laptop to print on an Epson 1290 hosted on a remote 32bit XP desktop.

Both Win 7 and Win 10 come with their own native 'inbox' drivers named 'Epson Stylus Photo 1290 (M)'.

If you add the 1290 as a local USB printer, then both Win 7 and Win10 install the native driver and everything works fine (albeit with reduced functionality compared to the Epson driver).

On Win 10, I have been unable to find a way to add a remote shared Epson 1290. The remote shared printer appears in file manager, so it is not a connection issue. The add printer wizard complains that it cannot find a driver. It will not use the native 'Epson
Stylus Photo 1290 (M)' driver. Neither will it use the Epson 64bit XP driver - even if you pre-install it first. This works ok on a Win 7 system.

How do I get this to work on Win 10?

 

You could try and add the printer via devices and printers and see if Windows can find the driver - this worked for my Epson printer when I set it up with my computer. Otherwise - try the 8.1 drivers and see if they work - odds are they will.

 

If there are no Windows 10 drivers available, the best alternative is 8.1 versions. Still there is no guarantee but its at least worth a try.

Try the 8.1 drivers - they'll probably do the trick.
