Windows 10: Epson Scanner V39 Preview Window Will Not Open Windows 10

I had a problem with Epson Scanner V39 preview window not opening in Windows 10 on my laptop.


First let me explain that normally I have "2 other monitors" attached to this laptop but I had put the laptop in storage for a couple months and just recently brought it out. I set it up with "1 extra monitor" not "2 extra monitors" and therein lies the problem.


The Epson Scanner software was last used on the monitor I did not re-attached to the laptop. So when I brought up the scanning software on my primary monitor on my laptop the preview screen was missing. It apparently was appearing on a monitor I do not have access to until I re-attached the monitor. I did shutdown the computer and powered it back up after installing the monitor to make sure I was getting all the software set up correctly.


I guess the solution is to make sure you move all applications back to the main monitor before shutdown if you think you are going to have a different monitor configuration in the future.

Thank you so much for your solution. Step 1 worked perfectly.

I have been trying to get my Epson Perfection V39 scanner to be recognized by Windows 10 for the past two weeks. I was on the phone for over 3 hours with 4 different Epson technicians and they could not get the scanner to work. I was about 2 seconds away
from reverting back to Windows 7. You have made my day.

Windows 10 Tweaks

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

• Open a new Explorer window.
• Click View in the ribbon.
• Click Options.
• Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
• Click OK
