Windows 10: EPSON V600 not working

I noticed people having issues with the EPSON V600 scanner and Windows 10. I began having the same problem around July 2018. I got the Geek Squad to fix the problem - which they blamed on a Windows 10 update - but, the fix (switching to a "compatible mode") turned out only temporary. The proble returned. My scanner would freeze, be shown as "not responding" in the Task Manager, and showing "cannot communicate with the scanner" when trying to reacquire the EPSON V600 software. To regain the connection, I would have to restart my computer or pull plug from the back of my computer.


After performing several tests in trying to better isolate the root cause (i.e., accessing several different applications while operating the scanner), I discovered that the cause appeared to be associated with AOL and, more specifically, an AOL update installed in July 2018. I uninstalled the AOL software, and reinstalled a fresh AOL package. The problem went away … at least until it shows up again.


Thought some might have the same problem.
