    I am trying take a screen capture but everytime I press the printscreen button it just pulls up a file explorer window. How do I fix this or is there another way I can print screen?

    Both in windows 10 version 20h2 and windows 10 version 2004 I have a problem with print screen: not working.

    I have set that when pressing the print screen button the image is automatically saved in onedrive. However, this does not take place.
    Even if I paste the image into MS Word etc after pressing the printscreen button, nothing happens (previous copy-c action is pasted).

    Problem occurs when I have been on pc for a while. If I press on printscreen botton immediately after starting the PC, printscreen is working.

    I already closed down onedrive and switched on/off save options in onedrive, but nothing is fixing the problem.

    Any suggestions?

    • When you say you want to print screen, do you mean you wanted to take a screenshot?
    • Was this option working before?
    • Were there any programs/updates installed on your computer prior to this happening?
    • Are there any error messages when you try to press the print screen button?

    In the meantime, here are a few ways on how to perform a print screen on Windows 10:

    • Press the PrinttScreen button to copy the screen to the clipboard.

    Print Screen Button

    Is there any way to control the options for just this one button as I want to leave my F keys as the default as I use F Keys as hotkeys in some games but I really would like the Print Screen option to be the default for that key.

    I have an HP where you can swap the F functions but it all or none. Maybe someone can suggest a Print Screen shortcut or you can use a separate program like Lightshot or Snipping tool for cutouts. Good Luck
