    Error 0x00f0988 when updating Windows 10 on an HP Pavilion laptop.


    Hi,


    Please can anyone tell me how to solve this problem because everytime I try to instal the following Windows Update [ 2019-09 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1903 for x64-based systems KB4515384 ], it fails and shows the error 0x800f0988 ?


    This is happening every time I retry.

    Pavilion Laptop with CPU error code

    It may be silly of me but try the next few things :

    • See if ram stick are properly seated
    • Try to check did you seated your cpu properly
    • See if all of the cables lie down ok in their slots
    • Check for excesive paste on the CPU socket
    • Try a hard reset of laptop by removing the cmos battery out for 15 minutes
    • Remove your HDD and try to start the laptop
    I hope this will help you a bit. Had a HP Pavilion on a maintenance check a while ago and either you believe it or not he didn't want to start because of a bad hard drive and gave me signal that the CPU was faulty.

    Can't update the HP Pavilion Notebook.

    I'm trying to update my system and am getting a message to delete HP Pavilion Notebook - BIOS manually as it is incompatible with the upgrade.

    I can't find it to delete it. It's not in the Programs list with the other HP apps.

    Any suggestions?

    Hey guys, I'm using a laptop that won't go through Windows update. It downloads and installs updates fine but it can't configure updates after rebooting. It would try, then fail and revert changes made.
