Windows 10: Error 0x80070002 when attempting Windows Update

Today I checked my windows updates and found they have been failing since 09/09 with the error message 0x80070002.


Build and version: 2004 - 19041.388


My computer was attempting to download KB4571756, so I tried to install it manually and get the error "This update is not applicable to your computer". I tried to install the latest SSU and the updates between my build and the latest build but I get the same error message.


When going to add and remove programs to view installed updates non are displayed, instead I am greeted with the message "No updates are installed on this computer".


I have ran sfc /scannow and DISM with both returning no issues, I have attempted to reset the PC and it fails, I have tried to run the MediaCreationTool and run an upgrade which also fails.


Right now I am at a loss as this is a 3 month old install and would like to avoid having to re-install windows completely.


Please can anyone advise any solutions to try before a complete reinstall?

Error 0x80070002 when trying to update Windows

I have been having issues for months with Windows 10 updates failing due to Error 0x80070002 on my gaming laptop. The full message reads:

2019-06 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1803 for x64-based Systems (KB4503286) -Error 0x80070002.

I am currently on version 1803 (OS Build 17134.590) and I'm being told "You're currently running a version of windows that's nearing the end of support. We recommend you update to the most recent version of Windows 10 now to get the latest features and security improvements."

I have followed the instructions on Error Code 0x80070002 Fixed – Eassos Step-by-Step Tutorial but this hasn't resolved the problem. Does anybody know how to fix this?
