Windows 10: Error 0x80070005 when installing and updating Microsoft Store apps as well as Windows...

Since the beginning of this month, I can no longer install any apps from Windows Store or some Windows feature updates from Windows Settings. The error code was always 0x80070005.I can still install AppxBundle and MSIXBundle downloaded directly from store.rg-adguard.net via Windows App Installer or PowerShell admin not required. Also, if an update fails in Microsoft Store, running Get-AppxPackage -all will show both old and updated version, however the PackageUserInformation of updated version is {S-1-5-18 [S-1-5-18]: Staged} instead of Installed.I can also install feature updates downloaded

Error code 0x80070005 with Microsoft Store

We understand the difficulties that you are unable to install Python 3.8 through the Microsoft store and getting the error 0x80070005. In order to get clarity and to assist you accordingly, please reply with the answers to
the questions below:

• What is the Version and Build of Windows 10 installed? (Type winver
  in Windows search/Run command)
• What is the make and model of the PC?
• Are you able to install other apps from Microsoft Store?

• What is the date and time on the PC and ensure it is correct?
  
• Are you logged in to the PC as Standard/Administrator user account?
  
• Do you have any non-Microsoft Antivirus/security program installed?
  

Let us try a few steps and check.



Step 1: Fix the permissions of the Packages folder

1. Open File Explorer and navigate to this location:
   C:\Users\Admin\AppData\Local
   
2. Now in the Local folder, locate the Packages
   folder.
   
3. Right click on Packages and select
   Properties.
   
4. Click the Security Tab, then click
   Advanced button and ensure that all the users listed have full control.

Step 2: Reinstall Windows 10 Store app using PowerShell

1. Press Windows + X key and select Windows PowerShell (Admin)
   
2. Copy and paste this command, and then press Enter:
   Get-AppxPackage -allusers Microsoft.WindowsStore | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register "$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml"}
   
3. Once the process complete, restart the PC and check
   

Step 3: New User Administrator Account

If the issue persists, then we would suggest you to create a new administrator user account and check, refer this article to
create a local user or administrator account in Windows 10.

Can't Update Apps From Windows Store Error 0x80070005

I have several apps that refuse to update with the error 0x80070005. Some of the apps include Groove Music, Microsoft Photos and Films and TV. Here is what I have tried so far.

1- Checked the time, date, time zone and region is correct. User account control is enabled.

2- Run the WSReset.exe as administrator

3- Gain full control over packages folder using the advice here:

4- Control Panel/Troubleshooting/View All/Windows Store Apps/run troubleshooter. The troubleshooter did a few things and also ran WS reset and reported the Windows Store cache may be damaged.




I tried to uninstall and reinstall one app but it refused to reinstall so I had to use system restore to get it back. I am the only user logged on as the administrator.

Is there anything else I can try? Your advice would be appreciated.

Can't Update Apps From Windows Store Error 0x80070005

Hi, please do this as a matter of routine:
From an admin command prompt
[Windows key + X, click command prompt (admin)]
chkdsk C: /F
Your PC will need to restart.
Make sure the result is clear or fixed- else do not proceed.
Post back the result, which you can get after a restart as follows:

Then re-register apps:
Apps - Reinstall and Re-register in Windows 8 and 10
