Windows 10: Error 0x80070032 occurs when opening file in OneDrive but available on device

I have a Dell XPS 9320 running on Windows 11 Pro. Most of the files I use are stored on my Microsoft OneDrive cloud, but I do always keep local copies of my most accessed files on my laptop. For a couple Excel and Word documents, I have also created shortcuts on my desktop to easily access them. Recently, as in just the past month or so, every time I try to open one of these documents using the desktop shortcut, I get the following error message:"An unexpected error is keeping you from copying the file...Error 0x80070032: The request is not supported."When I click on the Try Again option in th

Hmm. Either it's put out errors and WCG is limiting the work units available, or the project list may not be set to supply other WU when one runs out. (if the problem lies here and not on your end)

On the options to your left, if you go into Results Status, select the computer from Device Name and then look through results see if either they were returned late, errors or any other kind of issue that would stop the servers supplying WU from that perspective.

If there are no errors then it's maybe down to your project list. So selecting Device Manager from the left menu and then clicking on the profile assigned to that computer and make sure that it's assigned to receive WU for other projects if they run out.

At least those steps will rule out problems from the WCG end.

Error 0x80070032 may occur if the Component-Based Servicing (CBS) manifest is corrupted. Component-Based Servicing (CBS) is a set of files and resources that are required to service a Windows image or operating system.

Meanwhile, I suggest that you run the Windows Update troubleshooter. When you try to install the latest updates from Windows Update, you will sometimes receive an error message. The Windows Update Troubleshooter resolves many of these errors. Follow these
steps to run the troubleshooter:

• Open Control Panel.
• Select View by: Small icons.
• Open Troubleshooting.
• Under System and Security, select Windows Update.
• Follow the on-screen instruction.

Windows 10 - OneDrive

Right click on the app and one of the properties has an option to not automatically start it. Uncheck, restart the computer, and it should stop. If you want to go another step further, find the OneDrive app in the start menu, right click on it and uninstall.
