Windows 10: Error 0x800703e6 - For the third time.

So I've had my PC for 3 years now and in those 3 years I've had to fully reset/reinstall windows twice due to issues involving windows not updating. its the same issue every single time but I seriously refuse to have to reinstall windows for the third time because of this stupid issue that seemingly has ZERO fix. I've looked on these community pages for hours in total and tried, practically, literally everything. i see someone else has had my exact same experience so I know I'm not alone in this. its just getting ridiculous at this point since the last time I've had to do this was maybe summe

Error 0x800703e6 - is there actually a fix for this

Hi Dante,

It sounds like your AV is blocking DISM/SFC, which, in turn, generates the error 0x800703e6. I see four Symantec kernel drivers running. Have you tried uninstalling Symantec products to see if that helps? If that resolves the issue, you can install Symantec later (until then, Microsoft Defender AV will protect your computer.)

CBS & DISM logs



Follow these steps to collect the CBS logs.

1. Open the folder “C:\Windows\Logs\“
   
2. Select the two folders, namely, CBS and DISM.
   
3. Right-click on the section, and click Send to → Compressed (zipped) folder.
   

Windows cannot create the Compressed (zipped) Folder here.

Autoruns log

• Download Autoruns from Microsoft, and run it as administrator.
  Autoruns for Windows - Sysinternals
  
• Wait for the entries to populate.
  
• Save the Autoruns log to an .ARN file.
  
• Zip the ARN file and upload/share it on OneDrive.
  

MSINFO32 log

• Open MSINFO32.EXE as administrator.
  
• In the MSINFO32 screen, press Ctrl + S and save the system information report (.NFO file).

Windows Updates can't complete Error (0x800703e6)

Hi there,

The last time Windows Updates were able to successfully install was on ‎2/‎19/‎2021. Now, every time I try to run updates, I get this message almost immediately after telling it to update:
There were problems downloading some updates, but we'll try again later. If you keep seeing this, try searching the web or contacting support for help. This error code might help: (0x800703e6)


Are there any suggestions outside of Resetting the PC? I'm not really in the mood to reinstall all my programs today. :')
