Error 0x80070780 File Cannot Be Accesed by the System

Hi, I am facing blue screen issue and have tired all the advance options but nothing has worked so far. Last option is to use a bootable drive but I might loose my data and that’s why I am trying to copy my data. I am not able to copy data since I am getting Error 0x80070780 File Cannot Be Accesed by the System. It is a very strong virus I think which is causing all these issues. My laptop started heated up as well. I am not sure why. Is there a way I can save my laptop and my data? It is not very old. I got this just two years ago. I appreciate any help or advice!Thank you in advance.

    :)

  2. Error 0x80070780 File Cannot Be Accesed by the System

    Hello AdrianeSuhayda

    Welcome to the Microsoft Community.

According to the category / Windows 11/ you posted I understand that your problem is "the new computer suddenly lost 20 desktop icons, and the error code 0x80070780 File Cannot Be Accessed by the System appeared when clicking or deleting." Generally Speaking, the reasons for this problem are as follows:

• A computer that needs to be logged in with administrator privileges. Often, you may use a computer with a user account, which does not have all the privileges of the computer. Therefore, error 0x80070780 may be triggered due to loss of administrator rights to copy or delete certain files to be manipulated.
    • System files are damaged or running components are missing. It is common for folders with important system components to be accidentally deleted, causing them to fail to function properly.
    • Viruses or Trojan horse software. With a brand new computer, this should be less likely to happen.

The following are some solutions about system repair and help you locate the cause of the error, which you can refer to step by step.

• Run DISM tools and SFC commands
Press the Windows key and type the word CMD, right-click on the command prompt and select Run as administrator, enter the following commands in sequence and press Enter:
Note: The DISM repair tool and SFC will generally display the repair results after running, you can try to post the results here to share with me.

• Create a local administrator account
The creation steps can refer to the following articles: Create a local user or administrator account in Windows - Microsoft SupportAfter the creation is complete, press and hold Windows+L to switch to the new local account and check whether the file can be deleted.

• Repair Install Windows 11
    1. Click here and download and run the Media Creation Tool. As shown in the screenshot (Green box)
    2. Error 0x80070780 File Cannot Be Accesed by the System 1c2fde77-1db2-47fc-bb9b-8dd7669a85dd?upload=true.png
    3. Now select the "Upgrade this PC now" option.
    4. The installer will prepare the necessary files, so you need to wait.
    5. Select Download and install updates (recommended) and click Next.
    6. Wait for the update to download.
    7. Follow the on-screen instructions. On the Ready to Install screen, click the Change what to keep option.
    8. Select Keep personal files and apps and click Next.
    9. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the upgrade process.
Note: The operation process of repair installation is not equal to a clean installation of Windows 11. This operation only repairs the currently missing system components and files. Of course, if there are some important data files on the computer, I also recommend that you back them up.

Feel free to let me know if any updates, thank you!

  3. Error 0x80070780 File Cannot Be Accesed by the System

I have a brand new pc, not a week old. After downloading some games for my son, a few days later, at least 20 desktop icons have disappeared and been replaced by a generic picture of the world. When you click on it to try and open them (or delete them, I tried that too) I get the error code 0x80070780 "File Cannot Be Accessed by the System". I am able to open the games through steam or from searching the title in Cortana.

How can I fix this and why did it happen? Like I said, the computer isn't even a week old!

EDIT: I just tried to access a picture I uploaded and saved and I'm getting an error there too. It says the file is corrupted. Why oh why is my new pc broken already???

I appreciate any help or advice!
