I encrypted some of my files and folders in Windows 11, after some time I uninstalled my Windows and installed Windows 10. Now those files are encountered with error 0x80071771. What should I do? please help me If I can't open them, I'll be miserable

Hello. my laptop running Windows 11 Pro and I was encrypt a folder with bitlocker that contain files. one day, windows cumulative update ruined my laptop. I tried to uninstall the update but it's doesn't work. so I choose to re install my Windows 11.

After everything is fine, my folder that encrypted cannot be open and cannot be decrypt. I find some answers from forum with error code 0x80071771. there's many things I tried. like add ownership folder to everyone, etc. but anyway when I try to change File ownership to personal, it's error 0x80071771





How to fix this? I have recovery key on my microsoft account but have no idea where I need to input it for decrypting. thanks you

Error message 0x80071771 means that you need to restore the file encryption key in order for you to decrypt the encrypted files. On the other hand, you can still try these steps and see if it will work:

• Right-click the file or folder that you want to decrypt.
• Click File ownership and click Personal.
