    Error 0x80071771 on an external drive


    Hi, I know I am not the first person to have this problem but a folder on my external hard drive is not allowing me access to my files. I get the error: Error 0x80071771. I have tried changing the permissions following the steps online https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/all/error-0x80071771/4d6140a5-8989-4ea4-bae1-88e4ed623812 but I get an error while trying to do that. The files were not created on my current computer but rather on an old laptop that is corrupted and no longer functional so I can't go back to the source. What can I do to access my folders?Thanks,Aman
