  1. Error 0x8024402f for Windows Update due to malware. Fresh install.

There are a lot of posts about error 0x8024402f when trying to update Windows 10 on the web. With none of the solutions able to get Windows Update to run for me, I am posting here so that a Google search will show this as a solution.

I was able to "fix" the error by running the MS Update Troubleshooter:
    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/...troubleshooter

But it was a false fix. After running the downloaded wu170509.diagcab as administrator, it showed that it fixed the problems but after running it once (with NO updates downloading), the error would return. I am assuming that I had some sort of malware running that would turn off updates to prevent Windows Defender from updating itself to detect the malware.

The only way for me to finally get rid of the error was to do a cold install. Before I did that, I got rid of all my old keygen programs and any threats that Windows Defender and AntiMalwareBytes detected. So far, so good.

    :)

Error 0x8024402f for Windows Update due to malware. Fresh install.

All of my Windows 10 machines are getting this error, including a brand new machine taken out of the box yesterday. I have to assume there is a problem with the Win 10 update server being overloaded currently because of the WannaCry ruckus.

  5. That would be nice to know that it was not just my machine, but since my computer updates fine after a cold install, that means it is either a bug on MS's part or a problem with the build of Windows. I found one solution that helped someone fix their machine here:
    Windows Update error 0x8024402f Solved - Page 2 - Windows 10 Forums

If you still have problems, go to the link below and download the Windows Update Troubleshooter (need to click on "run as Admin" when the choice pops up). If you get this error, you have the same bug that I had:

Obviously Microsoft Corporation is NOT the culprit! After letting it "fix" the problem, I could only get it to run once and it would not update anything. If you get the same results, be prepared to having to wipe your machines and use the version 16194 .iso to do a cold load or repair.

Thanks for the reply.I wonder if there's something between my router and Microsoft that was causing the non-connection. Updates on all computers are working again, btw.

Here's what I experienced. Yesterday afternoon (5/15/17), I set up a new Win 10 laptop for a customer and the first thing I usually do is manually check for updates to get it caught up. It was already at 1607 so there wouldn't have been many. That's when I got the Try Again 0x8024402f error. I did a full shutdown (CMD: shutdown /p) but still got the same error.

Next I downloaded the WSUS Offline Updater tool and it was getting an error that it was not able to download the first w100-x64 update and it kicked out. The offline updater ALWAYS works and this is what I use for new installs of Win7.

I checking for updates on an existing Win10 1607 desktop connected by Ethernet with same error.
Tried on my laptop running Win10 1703 with same error.
Tried the offline update tool on the wired-in desktop and it wouldn't connect so I gave up for the night.

This morning, I had the same errors. Tried again at about 11am, the issue was gone. All computers now update.

    ??? Hmmmm....

Error 0x8024402f for Windows Update due to malware. Fresh install.

Hi, guys, I have the same problem from few months, even got new laptop, fresh win install, even i check few different routers... Even i have the same problem on 20 years old PC with XP sp1...?!? (i m not talking about updating the win, but few resctriction over the net and other odd behavior) *Smile which means 1 thing, your ISP is ****ing you, sorry for the slang but thats the true and thats what is happening to me and they will denide it... I have by the way the same problem on my xbox one and my xbox 360 (even inserting Lan directly ppoe protocol, previously working, m over internet stuff over 20 years). With few hours workaround testings, even with MS employs over the internet to find if the problem is the machines or they server or whatever, we found out my ISP is the ****er.

Workaround: for browsing the internet use TOR or proxy site or some alternative, for updates on win10, win defender or anything else -> VPN ,i found a free ones over the internet and they are working, with them everyting is updating without problem, ok there is one problem and it is the slow connection over the VPN, but i got a free one and m updating everything no problemo so for now I'm not complaining.
IF you even have xbox one and 2nd lan card on the pc (or u can buy USB-lan adaptop, or try wifi sharing) , laptop, u can download updates etc, by sharing the VPN connection to the 2nd LAN...

Unfortunatly from few months i didnt find anything else that helps, for my 3 different PC's and the few consoles...

I hope soon to switch to a new provider and see if he want to **** up with me, or i should start k***** everyone ass.
