Windows 10: Error 0xc00d36c4

I've been using a dash cam in my vehicles for quite awhile and viewing them has never been a problem until now. I haven't had a need to view since before windows 10 but now that I have all my computers are now running on windows 10, I get this error code of 0xc00d36c4. Looking on line wants me to download a program that costs to fix it. I don't trust it. It says something like I have a corrupt store cache. Huh? Does anyone have any ideas? I doubt if I'm the only one with this problem. I am also up to date on all updates including video. If it helps any, the last dash cam video (all no longer than 10 minutes) was only about 20 seconds long and I can view it. No others though that ran before starting a new 10 minute segment. All files are avi.

Error 0xc00d36c4 (0xc00d36c4) cannot some watch mp4 videos?

Hi so using the windows video app and windows media player to watch some mp4 videos results in the error code 0xc00d36c4 (0xc00d36c4) (which comes from the video app). What does this mean and how do I fix it?

 

If you type troubleshooting into the search bar (Cortana) the app should appear at top.

Click on it, a window opens, in upper left click on "View all".

There is one specific to Video playback. ( and several others that are related to Media).

Have you considered installing VLC Player. Only down load from reputable sources, please.

What Windows app are you using.

 

Your last sentence opened my mind. It was being opened by "Movies & TV". I right clicked the video, clicked on "open with" and changed it from movies & TV to Windows Media Player. Lo and behold, everything works fine now. I should have known that but I evidently drew a blank. Thanks for the tip. It Works now!
