Windows 10: Error: 0xC1900101-0x2000D installation failed at SAFE_OS Phase when trying to upgrade from...

i am trying to update my virtual parallels machine on my mac from windows 7 to windows 10 and i keep getting the following error; 0xC1900101-0x2000D failed in the SAFE_OS phase etc etc

After numerous attempts of reloading nothing seems to work! i have tried a clean boot and booting in safe mode and nothing works!

Can someone please suggest an easy way for me to complete this upgrade?

Whenever I try to upgrade using the media creation tool, at first, I get a blue screen stating that the installation went wrong, and to look up online: KMOD_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED. Then, it restarts automatically, and restores my previous copy of Windows.
When I log in, I get another error message saying:

We couldn't install Windows 10

We've set your PC back to the way it was right before you started installing Windows 10.

While reinstalling windows 10 because of corrupt registry database in original install the upgrade failed while copying files at 13%. Windows restored my previous version. Code 0x800700004-0x2000D Message was : The installation failed in the SAFE_OS
phase with an error during MIGRATE_DATA operation.
