Windows 10: Error 0xC1900101 - 0x20017 When Upgrading to Build 10162

Update to latest motherboard bios 2.00.

 

Solved at last after 10+ attempts from a win 10 pro iso DVD.
I mostly (but not always) had the "0xC1900101 - 0x20017 The installation failed in the SAFE_OS phase with an error during BOOT operation".
Thought I would post since I have had so much help from browsing forums like this. I had the error code
The thing that made it work was simply swapping the SSD to a SATA from SATAII on the m/bd. Win 7 downloaded a SATA driver (though I separately did a VIA one as well).
However before that I tried (1) unplugging USB card reader, (2) expanding reserved OS section on disc from 100 to 500mb, so maybe these also helped.

I had the same problem.

Mine was caused by using a grub boot and having two window partions on the drive.

It was solved by going into windows as normal-firing up the media creation tool. It was not necessary to tick the box for downloads as windows had already saved the files. After the acceptance of the licence,checks and percentage update etc it goes to restart.
At this stage do not go into the usual windows partition but the other one that shows in the grub menu it the finds the boot file
and proceeds to do the second halve (copy files,drivers and configuration) after that it worked fine.

This may not solve all problems but with a grub boot it is worth a try but make sure the drive is backed-up
