Windows 10 1803 Upgrade fails with Access violation - code c0000005 error?

I am attempting to upgrade my custom built PC from Windows 10 1709.

I have tried doing this a few different ways, first through the standard Windows Update Prompt, then twice through the Windows 10 Upgrade Assistant. Each time the Update seems to be successful, until about a 3rd of the way through when it inevitably crashes and restores to the old version.

At the suggestion of an IT professional, I ran SetupDiag.exe to diagnose the issue. The result is that there was an Exception thrown, with the error:

Access violation - code c0000005 (first/second chance not available)

and

Failed to request MethodData, not in JIT code range
GetUrlPageData2 (WinHttp) failed: 12002.

If it helps with debugging this, the computer has a 1080Ti, Asus Z170-A Mobo, no 3rd party antivirus, and no running 3rd party processes during the install (manually closed them). Bitlocker was suspended for the upgrade as well.

Bios is updated to the latest version, as are the video driver and other misc drivers for other hardware parts.

How can I successfully update to the latest Windows 10 Feature Release?

Exception Code: c0000005 is an access violation. I would do as Black Panther suggests.
Something is amiss.

 

MSI DragonCenter_2.0.121.0_x64 is throwing exceptions: Code: c0000005 - MoAppCrash

Exception error c0000005 means "memory access violation", likely an attempt to execute a code from data region.

This may be due to app incorrect behavior (often due to some add-ons), or due to driver error (may be detected by drivers verifier), or due to some hardware error, likely RAM.

Did you check your RAM modes (voltage, frequency, timings) are in compliance with motherboard compatibility list (QVL)?
