    hi, I was installing the sage 50 trial version and a popup window blocked me from installing it. The window says "Error 1324. The path at de compte juxtapos?XLS contains an invalid character."

    Error 1324. The folder path '?WINDOWS' contains an invalid character

    I've purchased a new HP and when installing the software from the old system I get "Error 1324. The folder path '?WINDOWS' contains an invalid character" while installing office and intuit QB.

    Intuit spent 3 hrs trying and was unsuccessful. I myself have tried for 3 days now with no success either. Ran all of the test and repairs and modified the registry as directed with still no success.

    I even believed it was an issue with windows installer but everything else installs completely with no errors.

    -> Folder names cannot contain a question mark.

    I modified the registry as directed.

    -> What was the registry hack you applied?

    Please do this:

    1. Mark the code line below, then press Ctrl+C to copy it.
    2. Click the Windows orb, then press Ctrl+V to paste the code line.
    3. Press Enter.
    4. Open the desktop file Env.txt and copy its contents into your reply.

    error 1324. the path ?windows or the volume is invalid.

    can't setup printer due to an "error 1324. the path ?windows or the volume is invalid. please enter it again." screen behind error screen is printer related. I can't setup printer when I try. Also, get the same error when I try to update or uninstall
    Adobe Reader. Checked adobe reader site and they have never been about to answer this question for years. So it seems to be just microsoft problem. Tried checking the regedit but the few instructions I find are very vague and I do not see anything out of
    wack. Anyone have the same issue and been able to correct it?
