    We encountered an issue while installing the MSI using the following command: msiexec /i localMSI.msi /qn /L*V localMSI.log The installation process displayed an error message stating: "The installer has encountered an unexpected error installing this package. This may indicate a problem with this package. The error code is 2203." Upon investigation, we found that the msiexec process was running and had created a file named "inprogressinstallinfo.ipi" which it was unable to delete. Killing the msiexec task allowed the installation to proceed successfully. This issue was encountered on mult

    Install / Uninstall MSI Error 2203


    Hello,

    I am having trouble, I first noticed it when an iTunes update came out and the auto update failed, I thought nothing of it.
    Next Adobe said it had an update, but it failed too. Then Plex media server did the same.

    I finally gave in and manually downloaded the files, all failed with an Error 2203. I tried to uninstall iTunes from Control Panel and got the same error.

    I also needed to install a piece of software that was in an MSI package, it gives the same error.

    I have tried setting permissions for the temp and installer directories as that seems to be well googled, but I'm still stuck.

    Any help would be appreciated!

    One thing I can show is the 2203 error during an installation:

    This was attempting to install the Fed Government's SS calculator that I have used for many years. If I disable LUA in the registry, it will install fine.

    Error 2203 when attempting uninstall/install

    Didn't answer your question, it was not made by Microsoft installer. What I was attempting to uninstall/reinstall when the 2203 error popped up was Adobe and additionally I attempted downloading the epic games launcher with the same error. All the tutorials suggest it has to do with permissions on the temp folder which I changed but still no luck.
