Error 43 for USB 3.0 Port when connecting android phone

I am trying to connect an android phone HTC to my Dell Inspiron 7390. I keep getting a Code 43 error. My understanding so far is that the USB 3 port asks my phone for more information about itself or its transfer protocol but my phone does not or cannot respond. Its a rather dated phone 2015-2016.

Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. Code 43

A request for the USB device descriptor failed.

I have been searching on this for some time and have tried the following things:

    - multiple restarts and clean shutdown and starts

    - switching to another USB port I only have 2

    - switching micro usb cables

    - installed HTC drivers

    - installed ADB

    - disabled "allow the computer to turn off this device to save power"

    - all available windows updates installed

    - all available Dell updates installed

I have tried with a slightly newer android phone from 2017-2018 and that was able to connect to the same USB 3 port just fine. I'm at a loss on what else to try. Any suggestions?

    :)

  2. Error 43 when connection to USB ports

    Hi,

The Error code 43 implies that, windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. When you get this error with USB devices it’s because one of the drivers controlling the device notified the operating system that the device failed in some
manner. This can be because of corruption in one of the loaded drivers and the driver cache just needs to be flushed. Unplugging the computer sometimes doesn’t resolve the problem because the battery still holds power.

To resolve this, I suggest that you perform Power Drain and check. To do so follow the steps below

    • Unplug the charger and remove the battery of your laptop, if using a desktop remove the power cord.
    • Press and hold the Power button for 30sec
    • Plug the charger/power cord and restart system

    Hope this helps

  3. Can't connect android phone via USB, unrecognized device error

    Hello
I have a Xiaomi MI A1 android phone , running android version 9 . When i connect it via USB i get an error from my windows about device not being recognized.
In the phone settings the option to select what happens when i plug a USB is grayed out
    Things i have tried
    Updating drivers
    Developer mode
    Usb debugging
    Different cables
    Different usb slots

I really don't know what else to do besides write here. I don't think it's the USB ports fault but the phone itself but i don't know how to fix it.
This might not be the best place to ask , but if you know a better place please feel free to tell me

    Thank you
