Windows 10: Error 5 ; Access denied while trying to dism the windows installation stored on drive D.

Hello.

I'm looking for a tutorial or tool that help me to make the ISO bootable image of one of my current windows 10 installation (GPT style disk,which include several partitions) ,as is,preserving all the settings,users,installed programs,everything. I've started following this tutorial :

Since I want to capture the Windows installation that's stored on the drive D,I ran the following command :



C:\>dism /Capture-Image /CaptureDir:\ /imageFile:C:\win10x64\sources\install.wim /Name:windows10 /description:07-17-2020

Deployment Image Servicing and Management tool

Version: 10.0.20170.1000

After some time it stops giving :

Error: 5

Access is denied.

Error while trying to install Windows 7 RC

One article on the net suggested that the HD containing the existing Windows XP installation that I don't want to touch, should be unplugged while installing windows Vista. I've extrapolated from that that doing the same for Windows 7 RC might work.

My only issue with that is that my existing Windows XP is installed on a MOBO RAID 1. If I unplug both RAID 1 disks, and reboot the system, will that cause the RAID configuration to be lost? Will my Windows XP still exist and be accessible once I plug the drives back in? (assuming that I plug the drives into the same ports that they were originally in)

Let me help you to fix the issue.

Let’s try simple steps and check if this helps. I would suggest you to take ownership of C:\ and D:\ drive and give full access permission. To do so, please visit the below link and go to the section
Issue 1: I receive an "Access Denied" error message when I try to access or work with files and folders
and try the steps provided. (Step applicable to Windows 10).
